5 Things to Do After Annual Benefits Enrollment

1.  Check your 2019 Benefits Confirmation Statement.

All benefits-eligible team members should receive a confirmation statement by Nov. 30, which outlines the benefits you elected and deductions for 2019.

Questions? Contact Advocate Benefits Service Center at 800.775.4784, M-F, 8am-6pm CT.

2.  Be on the lookout for new medical and prescription ID cards.

All 2019 medical plan participants will receive a new ID card in the mail based on the plan elected -- the Advocate HMO (Advocate only), Advocate EPO or the PPO.  If you elected the Advocate HMO, double-check that the primary care physician information is correct on your new medical ID card.

All medical plan participants will also receive a new prescription ID card from Express Scripts. You should receive your cards by Dec. 31.

Questions? Contact Express Scripts Member Services at 877.797.3687.

3.  Check your Tri-Star accounts to receive reimbursement for eligible 2018 medical expenses.

Tri-Star is Advocate’s administrator for flexible spending, deductible reimbursement, and Healthe Futures accounts listed below. Claims and account balances can be reviewed for each account you may have.  Access at advocatebenefits.com > Login > Health & Well-Being tile > Health Accounts

Deductible Reimbursement Account (DRA):  If you are participating in the Advocate EPO or the PPO, you have a DRA.  If you want to be paid for claims available in your DRA, you simply log in to your Tri-Star account and “Approve DRA Claims.” No claim filing is required. However, you must take action to approve release of this reimbursement to you. Once you access your Tri-Star Account, select  Approve DRA Claim and View DRA Claim to approve or view payment for qualified expenses to be reimbursed.

Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA):  If you elected a Health Care FSA for 2018, you have until March 31, 2019, to file 2018 claims for reimbursement through Tri-Star Systems. If you file a claim for reimbursement incurred during the additional two-and-a-half month grace period (January 1-March 15), these expenses will be applied against any remaining balance in your 2018 Health Care FSA.

  • All funds not claimed by March 31, 2019 are forfeited, according to IRS guidelines.

Healthe Futures Account (HFA): If you are enrolled in the PPO or EPO coverage option, any unused balance in your DRA at the end of the year (as adjusted for a partial year of participation) will automatically roll over to your HFA. This rollover will occur on April 1 of the following year. Once you reach age 60 with three years of service you can use your HFA to pay for out-of-pocket medical expenses. You have until March 31, 2019, to file claims incurred in 2018 for reimbursement through Tri-Star Systems. You must file a Tri-Star HFA Claim Form with Tri-Star to request reimbursement from your HFA.

  • Important: You must have a zero balance in your DRA and FSA before you can use funds in your HFA.

4.  Download helpful mobile apps for your benefits.

Get ready for the New Year by setting up helpful mobile apps on your smartphone.  Almost all of Advocate’s benefits administrators offer a mobile app.  These apps can save you time when looking for information about your coverage.

5.  Double-check your first paycheck with 2019 deductions.

Be sure your paycheck deductions on your January 10, 2019 paycheck  correctly match the total for you and your family members for the benefits plans you elected.
