Sick Leave Bank Evaluation Begins in Pay Period 14 (6/24/18 – 7/7/18)


A maximum amount of accrued sick leave may be carried over each year under Advocate’s Sick Leave Policy that went into effect July 1, 2017. 

As a reminder:

  • Team members may carry over one half of their paid sick leave balance to a maximum of 20 hours into their next 12-month period.
  • Evaluation of your sick leave balance will occur annually on the anniversary of your participation in the plan.
    • Hours in your sick leave bank that exceed the maximum annual carry over allowed will be eliminated or "lopped off.” The first annual lop-off will occur in the pay period containing July 1, 2018.*

      *Team members who have worked at least 1,250 hours in the 12-month accrual period and are eligible for Family Medical Leave (FML) may also carry over up to an additional 40 hours of paid sick leave to be used exclusively for FML.  This balance will appear as a second bank with the description:  SCK FMLA.

  • After the lop-off, sick leave accrued during that pay period will be applied to your sick leave balance.
